Hi.

End of Eden (Se7en Sinners #2) by S.L. Jennings

I thought I knew what Hell was like.

I thought I had been living it all these years on Earth—abandoned, forgotten, and left with a dangerous secret that not only made me the Se7en’s #1 target but also turned me into a deadly weapon, a threat to every human in my path.

I was wrong.

In order to survive Lucifer’s plans for me, and his unquenchable thirst for more power, I have to surrender my humanity. I have to lose a part of myself in order to find my way back to him.

Back to the demon who saved me, only to break me.

Back to Legion.

But even supreme evil has its limits, and the real foes never show their devastatingly beautiful faces.

Forget fire and brimstone. They aren’t shit compared to what’s coming.

Centuries-old bonds will be broken. Unlikely alliances will be forged. And innocent blood will be spilled. Blood that will stain my hands for the rest of my mortal days.

I thought I knew what Hell was like.

I was wrong.

Hell is coming.

Hell is just the beginning.

Eden and Lucifer

Hell is not what you might think. We are led to believe there is fire, brimstone, flames and torture. This Hell, it's a little different. Life with Lucifer is filled with debauchery, opulence, sex, and torture. Of course there is torture. It is Hell after all.

Lucifer is a mindfuck. The way he is able to manipulate is truly a gift. He lulls you into believing his words and actions are honorary. I found myself eating up everything he dished out. But, the creepiness of his words and callousness of his actions woke me up. I wanted to tell Eden he is lying. Run. But on the other hand, I liked him. See, mindfuck.

It was her ally, Nikolai Skotos, that kept her grounded. His voice of reason was the light and sanity she desperately needed while being forced to a life in Hell.

Eden and Legion

After their return from Hell, Eden has changed. I mean, how could she not. Hell has been branded to her like a disease. The things she witnessed, her lack of compassion and new found love for the opulence provided by Lucifer, is eating at her and making her question who she is.

Legion is there trying to pull her out of her own thoughts and to help her realize she is not the sinner she believes to be. He wants her to understand and believe that she is worthy of him, life, happiness and love.

Eden, Legion, the Se7en and The Alliance

Eden's life has been a huge shit show. Drug addict mother. Failing system.

She has all these people coming at her from different directions: Legion, The Se7en, Lucifer, The Alliance. They all want something from her, but are they using her humanity against her to further their own interests?

Thoughts

There was a running theme I picked up on throughout the book that I didn't see in Born Sinner. Vulnerability. These characters who are hard, unrelenting, and down right scary, have become vulnerable. It was this side of them that made me love them. We're given small glimpses of the humanity they would like to believe either never existed or has long since died.

As I was getting close to the end, I noticed there was not enough book left to finish where we were currently at in the story. Then BAM..."The End." UGH...cliffhanger. Again. I have a love/hate releationship when it comes to cliffhangers. A good cliffhanger will leave you reeling for the next installment. This cliffhanger wasn't good, it was brilliant.
