Hi.

Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) by Rachel Van Dyken

Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) by Rachel Van Dyken

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

Cheater.  Hmmm.  Absolutely yes, fuck yes, for sure, the title almost scared me off from reading this one.  However, being a big Van Dyken fan, I couldn't turn away from the temptation and figured if I had to punch her in the face, so be it.  Fortunately for all of us, there will be no punching.

Is this book going to seriously piss me off?  Yep.  A little.  At times.

Avery saved the book for me... not that the book was drowning.  Avery is one of the funnest and funniest book characters ever.  She has a silly side, a prude side, a not so prude side.  But what I mean by saving the book for me is I was worried that Lucas was going to be too cliche and too "cheaterish" for me to even be able to engage at all.  Avery enraptured me.  Lucas initially nauseated me...  Like as bad as the title made it seem.

Oh shit.  This is sounding like a bad review.  It's NOT.

My point being.  Don't let the title deter you.  Don't let douchy-initial-Lucas deter you. Rachel spun a super highly entertaining and humorous story and method of telling said story to make it worthwhile.   Trust me.

Is it realistic?  Who knows.  In this day and age, I'm sure there are dating pools where chicks are good with being a day of the week and a manwhore playing that role.  But you know what?  It's called FICTION and it's for entertainment.  Yay for entertainment!!

So at the end of the day (or of the review)... it was actually Rachel that enraptured me and not Avery.  Well done Van Dyken.  I loved it.  Loved it mucho. I personally found this book hilarious and endearing.  Even if it is about a cheater.  Keep telling me more stories.
