Defy (Sinners of Saint 0.5) by L.J. Shen

Defy (Sinners of Saint 0.5) by L.J. Shen

Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

Normally student-teacher romances freak me out, give me the heebie-jeebies, and is not my thing.  Maybe it's because all of my teachers were old and crotchety and I had no desire to see or sleep with those sagging and wrinkled messes.

But I gotta say... Shen sold me on this one.  What I thought I would be totally creeped on, I actually thought was kinda hot and enjoyed.

And don't tell Shen this, but it was my first read of hers.  And I now I'm grabby grabby grabby and digging into the rest of her books.

While I wanted to hate the entitled fuck that Jaime was supposed to be with the first mention of the teenager driving a new Range Rover, I quickly discovered that he wasn't your average high school douchebag jock.  And can I say I'm still laughing at the HotHoles?  Who thinks of that?  Oh yeah.  Shen does.

And while I still cringed at the thought of the student-teacher romance and looked over my shoulder every ten seconds for all of us to get busted with the forbidden romance - I was so surprised and pleased with all the blackmail and undercurrent shit going on at the same time.  WELL DONE MY FRIEND!

Aside from making me not creeped out with the topic and making me like this story... a LOT.... I am now forever entwined in Shen's style of writing.  Smooth, velvety, warm, and comforting.  Oh wait, that's the blanket I'm snuggled in.  But the writing does it to me too.
