Blow (The Tainted Love Duet #1) by Kim Karr

2 fatal sides.
1 epic love.
7 days to survive.

They met in the face of danger. They weren’t looking for love. They both knew better. But they couldn’t stay away, and they fell hard.

He is heart-stopping handsome, fearless—and haunted by deadly ties.

She is breathtakingly beautiful, determined—and in harm’s way.

They should have parted. They didn't. And now time is running out. One hundred sixty eight hours. That’s all that remains. While Logan McPherson fights to save them, Elle Sterling is forced to make a choice that could change everything.

When torn between right and wrong, tainted love doesn’t have a chance...or does it?

Pet’s $0.02

This has the same outstanding build up of tension that the Connections series had. Where you just chew through the pages because you have to find out what happens next. There’s so much that could go wrong that you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop from page to page. It’s fucking nerve wracking…

There is so much misdirection in this book that I was throwing out guesses left and right. Is the runner at the beginning an escaped convict? Is the girl at the lawyer’s office a wife? A mistress? How is she involved in everything going on? Even when you do find out who she is…you still have to ask yourself how much she knows… because this is Elle, the sister of Michael’s missing wife, Lizzy. Elle is world traveled, she doesn’t trust and she never gets emotionally involved, making Elle is a little naïve to accept some of the thing being fed to her…  Michael, her missing sister’s husband, is obviously hiding something big and it frustrated the hell out of me that she kept just accepting everything he said.

Logan is the grandson of the previous Mob boss. But things change. His grandfather is no longer in power and Thomas, the current Mob boss’s son has a major hard on for making Logan’s life miserable. You can bet that he’s not going to take Logan and Elle finding a little bit of happiness with each other lying down, which means that Logan is keeping shit from Elle too.

And can I just say I think there is something icky going on with Tommy and Lizzy, Elle’s sister. Not because of the relationship but because of the uncanny resemblance between Lizzy and Emily, Thomas’s sister. Making the whole situation murkier is that Logan and Emily were seeing each other as teens. And I don’t believe for a second that the situation that Emily found herself in was Logan’s fault.  If I’m right, it makes the relationship between Tommy and Emily and Lizzy even ickier and Thomas a colossally sick bastard. I mean, he already is, but this would make it worse.

I still have so many questions…  Who else is involved?  Does Peyton and Declan know more than they’re saying? Someone is obviously talking for all the information about Logan and Elle flying around… Does Patrick, Tommy’s father know what Tommy is up to? Is Michael involved or an innocent caught up in the mess?  Is Michael really Clementine’s father? How is Erin, Michael’s sister involved?  So many unknowns…

All I can say is that I closed Blow and opened Crush without hesitation because there is no way I can delay finding out what happens next.
