The Italian (Beyond the Mathews Family #2) by Beverly Preston

No ties.

No expectations.

No risks.

Antonio Giovanni, a fifth-generation winemaker in the rolling hills of Tuscany, is the epitome of temptation. Tall, dark, and handsome with an accent sexy enough to leave a trail of women’s panties in his wake. The man wears charisma like a fine silk suit…flawless and molded to perfection in all the right places, leaving just enough mystery to make you wonder what lies beneath the faultless exterior.

Hope Tidwell, a world-renowned sommelier, is a strong independent woman who fights to have control over every aspect of her life. She makes her own money, her own decisions, her own happiness, and her own mistakes. Her existence doesn’t need to be validated by a man; she refuses to ask for anything except an orgasm, and even those she can manage on her own.

Relationships for most people are as natural as breathing. However, Hope and Antonio are two players who master the art of seduction and the fear of emotional intimacy. When tragedy strikes close to her heart, Hope is fated to do the one thing that terrifies her most.

Destiny reveals the biggest gifts often require the greatest sacrifices

I have been a fan of Beverly Preston’s for some time now and her stories never disappoint.

This is one of my favorites. It was so emotional. Hope is a single to the core kind of gal. She loves her job and the beautiful destinations it takes her to as well as the handsome men she meets along the way. One of those places is Italy, where her handsome “friend” Antonio resides. Hope and Antonio have always had amazing chemistry in and out of the bedroom.  They don’t do commitments. Keeping things casual, keeps things neat and works well for both of them.

I don’t want to spoil anything but when a life altering event happens, Hope finds herself starting over in Italy. Lost, heartbroken, scared and confused but also alone, or so she thinks.

Antonio steps in as if he belongs and does what he can to reassure Hope that everything will be okay.

Let me tell you that one minute I am reading and I am happy and excited and then the next minute, I am a sobbing mess trying to come to terms about what happened. Holy Shit! Gutted, slayed, devastated.

Hope’s journey is one I will never forget. Her struggle to come to terms with the direction her life has taken. Rebuilding her career and going down a road she never thought she would take filled with love, passion, promise and family.

I couldn’t put this book down. Such a fantastic read.
