For the Heart of an Outlaw (Outlaw Shifters #3) by T.S. Joyce
Karis Dunway is looking for a complete overhaul of her life. On the tail-end of a heartbreak, she makes a desperate move and applies to be a part of a matchmaking program for big predator shifters. Colt seems charming and sweet over messages, but meeting the scar-faced man in person sets Karis’s life on a path she can’t escape from. And the more she gets to know her potential future mate, the more she thinks she doesn’t want to escape. But Colt has a nickname that sends up big red flags. His friends and enemies call him the Warmaker, and pretty soon she will figure out exactly what that means. And it could cost her more than she could’ve ever imagined.
Colton Dorset, aka the Peacemaker, aka the Warmaker, is hunting for something to tame his bear. He’s on a tear sabotaging Trigger’s ranch, and now his options are slim: find someone who can settle him down, or leave the life he has worked so hard to build. But Karis isn’t what he imagined, and on top of that, she is hiding an animal that gets his inner grizzly all riled up, instead of settling him. If he could figure out what kind of shifter she is, he might be able to navigate this new arranged match, but Karis keeps him guessing at every turn. And as life at the ranch spirals out of control, he will have to figure out if her animal is a help, or a huge hindrance.

Colt! I adored Ava’s brother and was excited to dive into his journey. The poor guy has been through so much his entire life and he has also sacrificed more than your average person. He raised his sister and worked himself to the bone to provide for her and to help make her dreams come true. Watching and knowing she was living the live she deserved made him happy, even if it meant her leaving home. Then to have his life changed so dramatically and learning to adjust to life being a shifter, my heart just broke for him. Yes, he got his sister back (she happens to be his best friend’s mate- yes, she remains human). He wants a relationship, he wants to feel the love and to give it. He wants a family, he wants it all. The scars he bares aren’t scoring him a lot of dates. Desperate times and all, he joins a breeder’s site. What could possibly go wrong?
Karis was screwed over by her long term boyfriend. He promised her she would become his mate, he promised her a future that included a few babies and then in one moment, he lied to her and took her dream away, breaking every promise. 10 years, she wasted 10 years on a man that didn’t love her. Karis has to be my favorite female shifter in the entire series. I loved her strength and her honesty and her ability to love for what is on the inside. Still wanting to fulfill her dream of a family (but with someone she will not fall in love with) she joins a breeder’s website. See where this is going?
They have an instant connection that neither of them can explain. Colt can’t believe she can see past his scars and his warmaker reputation. He warned her that he is a dangerous man, a killer and he will die protecting what is his and those he cares about. Karis can’t believe that Colt sees nothing but beauty, after 10 years of her ex picking on her for her weight, her lack of beauty. She had to learn to depend on herself.
Their breeding contract turns into so much more. Their animals call to each other and for the first time in her life, not only Colt but the rest of their clan has her back and she realizes she has finally found her home.
I have to say, Karis is my favorite female shifter in the entire series. I adored her strength and her commitment. Beauty may be only skin deep but she radiated beauty not only on the outside but the inside as well.
This was such a fun, a little bit heartbreaking and a very sexy read!
I can’t wait for the next book!
