Infraction (Players Game #2) by Rachel Van Dyken
New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken proves that everyone scores to win. But off the field, a fumble can change the entire game.
Pro footballer Miller Quinton would do anything for his best friend and teammate—including “fake dating” his friend’s sister. What no one knows is that seven months ago in Vegas, Miller and Kinsey did a whole lot more than just kiss. Miller knows that this cheerleader is off-limits to him and any guy on the team. Still, he can’t stop himself.
Kinsey’s whole world is on the verge of crumbling. Her dad has cancer. Her overprotective brother is falling apart. Dating Miller may be a fake-out, but he’s the one guy who can make her forget about everything—including all the reasons she stayed away from football players. With each heated moment, Miller feels more like a safe place…even though he’s not safe at all.
Now temptation is testing every rule in the game of love. But how long can they go on playing when winning is a harder goal than either of them imagined?
For those of you who haven’t read Franternize, stop reading this. I guess you could read this but you wouldn’t have the background of Sanchez, Em and Miller (along with Jax and Kinsey)….
After the drama of Fraternize, Miller is back. This book picks up right where Fraternize left off. He may not have gotten the girl but he did get his best friend Em, back. We also figured out that when the going gets tough, Miller gets running. He knows his faults and he is working his hardest to change it.
You remember Kinsey? Em’s best friend and Jax’s sister. Everyone knows she is off limits, especially after her ex, did what he did to her. Now that he is back in town, Jax goes in to over protective brother mode and tells Kins and Miller that they will be fake dating.
Kinsey and Miller know that the chemistry between them is strong, look what happened all those months ago in Vegas. Miller tries to do right by his best friend but also tries to do right by Kinsey.
Yup, this is a cluster phuck of epic proportions but in all the best ways.
Kinsey loves that her brother loves and protects her from everything but she is also sick of it. She just wants to live her life and love the person her heart desires the most.
Miller wants to be the man at Kinsey’s side, he doesn’t want to fake date, he wants to real deal. He wants to protect her but not the same way her brother does. He wants to be her number one.
Their journey is so emotional. Their chemistry is explosive. Watching them struggle to get to where they need to be is beautiful.
The other thing I loved about the book is that we got more of Jax’s story. The straight and arrow QB that can do no wrong. I fell in love with the guy and my heart broke for him. It was nice to see his vulnerable side to see his fears. The love that man holds inside is epic and I loved how Stella brought it all out of him.
These characters complemented each other in all the best ways.
Rachel has done it again. A must read!
