The Forbidden by Jodi Ellen Malpas

A new story of dangerous temptations from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the This Man trilogy.

Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy-that instant chemistry that renders you weak in the knees. That is, until a night out brings her face to face with the dangerously sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.

Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her must be dangerous. She has no idea that he belongs to another. That he's forbidden.

“I’ll hold your hand if you hold mine,” he mumbles around my lips.

“I’ll never let go.”

Whew…. This was a doozy and totally not what I expected (in a good way of course)

Annie Ryan is a successful architect. Beautiful, smart and surrounded by great friends and family. They are concerned because she never has a boyfriend. She is always working.  She dates and has fun but it never lasts. She has yet has yet to meet “the one”.  A night out with friends and a very handsome and intriguing man, changes everything.

“Tell me to go,” he whispers, the demand licking its way from the base to the top of my spines.

“Tell me.”

“Go.”

“Not a fucking chance.” He swoops in and takes my mouth as if he owns it- deeply, passionately and with an unfathomable conviction.

Jack is a successful contractor. He knows something is missing from his life. Happiness, soul crushing love. When he meets Annie, his world is turned upside down. He only sees her and will do everything he can to make her his.

Their relationship is far from typical. It was actually quite frustrating. I adored Annie’s strength when it came to her resisting Jack, but that man was relentless, she had no chance. There were times I wanted to smack Jack and knock some sense into him. For as smart of a man he was, he went about things all wrong. This is also what I loved about the story. The longing, the pity, the hurt, the frustrations.

Jodi has created more characters you can’t help hate and love and love to hate.

This was such an emotional roller-coaster of emotions. I couldn’t put it down.
