My Best Friend’s Ex by Meghan Quinn

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend's ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that's what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

K3’s & Pet’s $0.02

K3: Reading the title, got me to thinking, what kind of person goes for her best friend’s ex? I mean, I think there is some universal girl code that states no ex’s. Chicks before dicks.. right? Regardless, Meghan proved me wrong and then some.

Pet: See, I’m okay with someone dating someone else’s ex. You didn’t want them any more…that’s like deciding you don’t want the rest of that pizza but you’re going to lick every bit of it so no one else can have it either. Move on. You have someone new.

K3: This story is nothing like I thought it would be. It was soooo fucking great. Before I give my praises to Meghan, let me get to my point on why this story rocks.

The main players:

Logan: Emma’s best guy friend and nursing student/study partner.

Pet: I didn’t like Logan until the end. I thought he was shady.

Adalyn: Emma’s friend and roommate.

Pet: I have no feelings one way or another towards Adalyn, other than I think she and Racer have a future together.

Sadie: Emma’s best friend.

Pet: I actually liked Sadie more in this book than I did her own.

Tucker: Sadie’s ex-boyfriend and childhood friend of Emma’s.

Pet: I thought Tucker got the short end from Sadie in Co-Wrecker. I was glad to see he got his own story and he made me fall in love with him a little more here.

Racer: Tucker’s best friend and co-worker and will work for Little Debbie treats…

Pet: Racer fucking rocks! I love this guy and want to meet him in real life. Meghan…?

K3: As a teenager, Emma has always been the mama of the group. The one always taking care of everyone else. It is fitting she decides to go to nursing school. With no time to date, she is focused on passing her exams and being a registered RN. The problem… The eviction notice she and Adalyn receive giving them a week to move out.

See the problem?

You know that saying, when life throws you lemons, add vodka? Well, that is what Emma does.

At the bar with her friends, she runs into Tucker, they catch up, she feels like a horrible friend for not being there for him after him and Sadie broke up. Logan gets jealous and Adalyn enjoys the show.

Pet: I liked Emma. I think it’s sad that with any kind of breakup you end up having two sides and people get pushed to the outside. Of the two, Sadie and Tucker…. Tucker needed the most support and he was sadly the one they dropped. I think Emma realized this once she talked to Tucker again.

K3: Now to Tucker.

Pet: Yes, let’s….

K3: He notices Emma at the bar right away. He finds himself happy when he talks to her. He hasn’t been happy since Sadie. I will let you read about that whole fiasco.

Pet: I think there are valid reasons that Tucker hasn’t been happy since Sadie. I also think that for Emma being a mothering kind of person who always takes care of her friends, this was an obvious miss for her and for their group of friends. It kind of pissed me off that they all forgot about him… I get that they argued all the time, but it takes two people to argue and we all know that Sadie wasn’t completely innocent in all of it.

K3: Anyhoo, do you kinda see where this is going?

Okay, let me wrap this up best I can.

Tucker and Emma become roommates, they make rules together, they hang out and they start developing those pesky little things called feelings. Aaannnnd que drama!

Pet: I loved their list of rules. But you knew rule #6 had majorly bad juju around it that was going to come back to bite them in the ass. It was kind of obvious where this was going to go. But even knowing that…? Didn’t take away from the enjoyment of this at all. Tucker and Emma had a banter and a friendship that was just fun to watch get rekindled.

K3: So basically, you need to read this you will fall in love with Music Monday’s from DJ Hot Cock and Jazzy Nurse Tits.

Pet: Loved those names…

K3: I love how Meghan can bring out so many emotions all at once. One minute you are swooning, the next minute longing, then pissed, then laughing, then crying. The emotions hit at all the right times. The story flowed with ease and the characters and supporting characters meshed so well together. Like really well, like, I am hoping a few peeps get their own little story *Racer*.

Pet: I agree. Meghan has a firm grasp on how to evoke all the feels from every scene. Even when you knew what was coming, it still hit you right in the gut. And I think Racer needs to be next…is there some kind of vote we can set up for this?

K3: Meghan, your stories get better and better. I can’t wait to see what you have coming next!

Pet: Me too… I can’t wait for the next one… it’s going to be Racer, right?
