Racer (Real, #7) by Katy Evans

A bad boy with something to prove.
A woman with a mission.
The race of their lives.
The love of a lifetime.

I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...
but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I'm the One. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time until it's gone.

This is such a pretty cover….

I read this a few days ago and had to let it marinate before I reviewed it. I was excited to read this one because I’m a big fan of Remy and Mine and I had a lot of questions.

Will Racer be like his dad, Remy?

Will he be just as obsessed with Lana?

Will his story be totally different?

I loved Remy, and I can honestly say I fell just as much in love with Racer!

It was almost like getting to know Remy all over again, but in Racer you get someone who is not quite as closed off as Remy was and who has a great support system.

In contrast, Lana is a girl who’s all messed up. I get she loved her teenage boyfriend, and I’m not trying to make light of his death, but the way she acts she may as well have died with him. She’s got this super hot guy telling her he loves her, and she’s still stuck in the past and doesn’t have any plans to even attempt to get past it. She gives stubborn whole new meaning.

Racer is super cocky, knows what he wants and goes after it with a single mindedness that’s impressive and yet doesn’t come across as arrogant. He’s just confident that he’s the best and proves it every time he’s behind the wheel. When he applies the same kind of directness to his pursuit of Lana, the girl doesn’t stand a chance.

This is a fast paced read with an incredibly likeable hero. Lana was a little difficult for me to like because I couldn’t get a good feel for her personality. She just didn’t come across that strongly and fell flat. But for Racer, and the glimpses you get of Remy alone, it’s worth the read.
