#Blur (GearShark #4) by Cambria Hebert
Nothing but a #blur…
There’s a new kid in town, and he’s hell on wheels.
From what we’ve heard, it may be because
he knows exactly what hell’s like.
You may know his brother, the NRR hotshot
(and former GearShark cover model)
It’s only natural a driver with his background and family connections
has sped his racecar into the newest, hottest division.
But that’s not all.
Arrow may be following in big bro’s tread marks,
but he doesn’t plan to stay there.
He’s swerving onto the road less traveled…
and a lot more controversial.
He’s opening up about his private struggles with sexuality
to tell a story that’s gone unheard until now.
One thing’s for sure; Arrow may have a painful past,
but his foot is heavy on the accelerator.
With speed like this, he’s bound to leave everything behind in
nothing but a #blur.

Oh my sweet Arrow. Ever since I met you in #Junkie, I have wanted to know more about you.
We were only given small glimpses of you, but I saw you were shy, a bit of a recluse, and yet, forward enough to show your crush for Drew. But it was Lorhaven's insanely protective nature that made me wonder what happened to you to garner that kind of protection.
After reading #Blur, I completely understand why Lorhaven is so protective. The ignorance and hate you endured is truly appalling. I can understand why you live behind the security of not only your brother, but the fences around your home and heart.
#Blur starts out a little different than the rest of books in the series. Cambria takes us back to a younger Arrow, then known as Dylan Lorhaven. She shows us all the ugliness that born Arrow Ambrose. Horrified, disgusted and hostile do not accurately describe the feelings I had while getting through all that...hate.
Ron Gamble wants Arrow. Badly. Enough to offer him not only one but two racing contracts. Gamble is giving Arrow his pick of joining his NRR or NASCAR team.
Obviously there are pros and cons to each. Sign with NRR and Arrow races with and is surrounded by his family: Lorhaven, Joey, Drew and Trent. Pick the ride with NASCAR and he can blaze his own trail, stepping out of Lorhaven's shadow.
However, with Arrow being an openly gay driver, choosing the NASCAR contract has the opportunity to bring the harrassment and bullying Joey suffered, to him. Hopper has promised to protect Arrow, but will he be able to keep that promise?
Which contract will Arrow choose?
"This might be the first we've seen of Arrow, but
it most definitely won't be the last. You won't see him
on the track, though, because as he said, he'll be
nothing but a blur."
I know many of you will be shocked with #Blur. The story is much darker than the earlier books in the series. I, for one, liked that she didn't shy away from the ugly parts. To know what Arrow endured in his past makes where he is now, and what he is doing with his life, all that more sweeter. However, knowing what this sweet, shy kid went through absolutely wrecked me.
After the first few pages of #Blur, I wrote this note: "Beautiful beginning to a book I believe may stomp on my heart." To my horror and delight, #Blur lived up to my expectations. Call me sadistic, but I LOVE when an author can pull emotions from me and make me feel for her characters.
